Story
On the 16th December 2016, me and my amazing family lost someone very special and close to us, our beloved mum, nanny and great nanny, Margaret Leitch.
My nan, was the most amazing, selfless, caring and inspiring women and a dancing queen.
Sadly, we lost her to the "Silent Killer" Pancreatic Cancer.
The moment that I found out that she had Pancreatic Cancer, something inside me changed. Spending the last two weeks inside a hospital and then a hospice towards the end, makes you realise just how precious life is, which helped me come towards a decision. There wasn't anything that i could do personally to save my nan, but there are things i can do now, to help other people, not only with Pancreatic Cancer but other illnesses.
I firstly started out by donating blood, something i have always wanted to do and something that was so simple. By doing this it gave me even more motivation to try and raise some money for Pancreatic Cancer and other charities.
While i was in the hospital with my nan, i saw girls the same age as me, sick and unable to walk. I saw babies and toddlers, sick and unable to walk and i saw the elderly. I wondered how many people had regrets, if they regretted not doing the things they wanted, that in the end, they would regret the chances they didn't take. Everyone who lives, dies but not everyone who dies has lived. My nan lived her life to the fullest, and that is what i want to do.
So, there are lots of things you can do to raise money, such as a bake sale or a marathon but i don't believe that by doing these things, i am living my life to the fullest.
So i came to the decision, that to try and raise some money, i would do a Sky Dive in memory of my nan. I don't mind how much i raise, as long as i can raise something. Whatever money is raised, will be donated between PCRF and other similar charities.
Thank you for reading.
