Weʼve raised £3,470 to help young musicians and youth brass bands in memory of Grandma Janet Payne (in the photo above)

    Story

I would like to raise some money in memory of my Grandma Janet, hopefully enough to try and help young people from all walks of life get the experience of playing a musical instrument. Hopefully a brass instrument, as of course we are a brass band family.

Although not a musician herself, for nearly 40 years Grandma Janet did just about everything possible under the sun to keep music alive .

I never imagined that playing a musical instrument would be such fun and lead onto making great friends, and I'd like to help other young people to have the opportunity to enjoy music and the friendships as I do.

I have many ideas on how I'd like to help, but first I thought I'd try to raise some money to see how much I'd get and then I'd get a better idea how to use that money. Whether it goes towards a concert by a championship section band aimed directly at youngsters, music for a youth band or perhaps instruments to those who need them and then of course there are already many musical charities we could help, but whatever it is, it will be a worthy cause.

As I've been guided watching Grandmas dedication to a cause within the brass band world, I will seek guidance on how best to use the money raised in her memory.

I will of course share with you all, how and when we have used the funds raised.

Thank you very much for your donations.
