As you all know I will be competing in a triathlon June 4th, 2017 and am running in memory of my cousin and my hero Justin Martin. As I slowly figured out who i wanted to raise money for my mother reminded me how gracious and comforting the group from C.O.P.S. were.

If you are not familiar with C.O.P.S. it stands for, Concerns for Police Survivors.
C.O.P.S. was organized in 1984 with 110 individual members. Today C.O.P.S. membership is over 37,000 survivors. Survivors include spouses, children, parents, siblings, significant others, and affected co-workers of officers killed in the line of duty according to Federal government criteria. C.O.P.S. is governed by a National Board of law enforcement survivors. All programs and services are administered by the National Office in Camdenton, Missouri. C.O.P.S. has over 50 Chapters nationwide that work with survivors at the grass-roots level.

Their Mission Statement is, "Rebuilding shattered lives of survivors and co-workers affected by line of duty deaths, through partnerships with law enforcement and the community".

This group helped my family in a very difficult time and they have done the same for thousands more. It would be my honor and my pleasure to raise money for this amazing group and give back to such an amazing cause. The target of $1,140 is steep but that will be my goal every year for that was Justin's Badge #. I'll be donating the entire amount raised in Justin's name to the Urbandale Police charter.
