In June 2015 Laken was diagnosed with CRPS - Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

In February 2016 Laken woke up in pain and her right lower leg was paralysed which means she has been in a wheelchair both in and out of the house since then.

The condition then spread into her left lower leg which she is now unable to touch it because of the unbearable pain it causes.

This severity of the pain means Laken hasn't been able walk since the beginning of this year and
since August the condition has spread into her left hip.

Laken used to be very active, taking part in Thai boxing competitions and just a year and a half before this illness started, she came 2nd at the British championships.

Lakens lifestyle has been thrown into turmoil and her friends and family have witnessed her change from a happy, energetic child to a young woman struggling to carry out day to day tasks who is taking morphine to help ease her pain, as well as another 150+ tablets a week and regular hospital visits.

Complex Region Pain Syndrome is an incurable disease that causes persistent agonising pain.

There is a treatment centre in America which Laken has been accepted to attend on the 6th February.

They have a very high success rate and there's an extremely high chance she will walk out of the centre not needing her wheelchair anymore.

They do not class this treatment as a cure because there is a chance she will need to go back for more treatment in years to come.

To be pain free and able to walk again will be a massive massive step in the right direction as Laken will finally be able to live the sort of life that normal 16/17 year old would have.

2016 has been a very difficult time for Laken and her family, especially her mum, Lindsey who has had to go part time at work in order to care for Laken, it has been a very difficult year - Please help Laken and her family hit their target and raise the funds needed for her treatment, flights and accomodation to America.
