Iʼve raised £1,072 to help provide sports equipment for Goodly Dale Community School's recently donated 'Astro Turf Pitch' by swimming the length of Windermere.

Story
Starting soon after the birth of my second child, I have been training for over a year, clocking up more miles than I care to think of (inc the Dartmouth 10k) and much of it in Winter temperatures that would turn your toes blue. All with the aim of swimming the length of Lake Windermere on Sunday 18th September.
Windermere is 12 miles long and the swim will see me completing approximately 800 lengths of a recreational swimming pool - but in much colder water ~16'C!
I am attempting this challenge in support of my local primary school - Goodly Dale Community School - raising much needed funding for sports' equipment for the recently built sport's pitch.
Goodly Dale is a very small school, with tonnes of heart and passion for sport. Our incredible teachers and support staff keep the children excited and involved in all sports regardless of Lake District weather and limited equipment. In 2015 United Utilities kindly provided us with an 'Astro Turf Pitch'. This pitch now needs to be fenced, marked out and provided with equipment (netball posts, football nets, tennis nets etc). The School would like to make this space an integral part of the school's curriculum.
As a swimming teacher I am passionate about children's sport and as a parent I am passionate about supporting the professionals who do so very much to bring out the best in our children. Every penny donated will go straight to the School to Improve the facilities, for not just the children currently at Goodly Dale but for future generations to come.
Thank you for taking the time to help support both myself, in doing the longest swim I have ever done, and 'Goodly Dale Community Primary School'.
Finally, please may I give big a thank you to members of the Lakes Swimmers; Head to the Hills Ambleside; Stuart's Sports Bowness; Piranha's Swimming School; The Old England Hotel and Spa; Choices Leisure, Sarah Storey Personal Trainer and Goodly Dale PTA for all the support that they have given me.
