Michelle McDonald, Kathryn Targett and I are employees of The Senator Group and have taken up the challenge of the Canalathon 50k (31 miles) run on the 26th March 2017 to raise money for a local cause. The route is along the Rochdale Canal Route 66, from Manchester Great Ancoats to Sowerby Bridge.
We are raising money for Charlie Procter and this is his story written by his mummy:
"On February the 1st 2016 Charlie Procter was diagnosed with cancer at the young age of just 2! Hepatoblastoma liver cancer. Although the cancer had spread to both lungs, making his cancer stage 4, his prognosis was good, 60-90% survival. 6 months of chemotherapy and a liver transplant, then Charlie will be cancer free...that was the plan. Unfortunately Charlie's treatment didn't work, he's struggling to fight the battle and his prognosis has now dropped, heartbreakingly it's now below 20% chance of survival. Currently, Charlie is receiving his last chemotherapy option. It was working well to begin with but now seems to be stabling the cancer rather than clearing it. A liver transplant is still very much needed but until his lungs are clear, he won't be accepted. He's still going strong after everything he's been through. Chemotherapy, needles, operations, blood transfusions, platelet transfusions.. and many more... He's just such a strong fighter!"

For Charlie to travel to be given a second opinion will cost around £4000. There will also be treatment and accommodation cost. If Charlie gets an infection he will need money there for the cost of treatment, blood transfusion.. the list is endless..
