For the past twenty years Little John’s House has been privileged to provide a secure and loving home for abandoned children with Special Needs. There are six wonderful children who live at Little John's House. They have loving and very capable staff who ensure that their needs are met 24 hours a day. The children are placed in there care through the legal ruling of the Romanian Child Protection Committee.

LJH run a Summer school with the help of many priceless volunteers, they open there doors in the summer to children with special needs from in and around Sibiu during the annual Summer School. They are given the chance to take part in lots of fun and exciting activities and enriching experiences involving social interaction, experimental play, observational learning, music and art therapy. For many of these children this is the only “holiday” they have in the whole year and often the only time their parents/carers get a break. The children come from local hospitals, orphanages and individual families, with many of the same children returning year on year. This is where I got to meet these amazing children and fell in love with what LJH is all about.

LJH must now provide separate accommodation for adults. Any expansion at it's present address would only provide bed-room space. So they have current planning to self-build a farm complex that will have separate adult, children’s and staff accommodation, a day centre to receive many children who are not allowed to attend school, a respite care unit for distressed families. With extra land, the residents would receive therapeutic education through the care of birds and animals, the planting of flowers and vegetables, and be encouraged to reach their highest potential.
