This September marks a decade since the young life of Aaron Toland was tragically taken years too soon, just three days after he set off on what was to be the adventure of a lifetime, making his way to Australia via Thailand.

In Aaron’s memory, his twin brother, Emmett and two of his closest friends, Paul Houston and Paul Ferguson are taking on what has been described as ‘probably the toughest event on the planet’, Tough Mudder. They will travel to London on 16th September to endure the 10-mile long obstacle course that will test both their physical and mental strength, challenging them with obstacles including fire, water, electricity and heights.

As well as preparing for the task, the group are aiming to raise £2,500 in aid of The Ryan McBride Foundation, a charity that is very close to the Toland family’s heart. The foundation has been set up in memory of Aaron’s younger cousin Ryan, who sadly passed away earlier this year, leaving another huge gap in the family circle. The foundation aims to support, assist and inspire young footballers to achieve what Ryan achieved throughout his very successful football career, as captain of Derry City. All money raised will go towards helping young people potentially realise their dreams.
