Iʼve raised £950 to promote reading for pleasure at St Philips Primary School
- Funded on Wednesday, 1st August 2018

Story
Alison loved reading and as a teacher promoted reading for pleasure in all sorts of ways. At St Philips Primary School, where she taught for many years right until the weeks before she died, Alison initiated all sorts of projects including redeveloping the library, holding reading clubs and even encouraging the staff to read more. I'd like to help the St Philips community to continue her work by setting up this fund. It will be used to promote reading for pleasure across the school - for example, by setting up an award for reading (I think a reading fairy may be involved...), and getting some special books for the classrooms. Other ideas will emerge as we go. Please donate what you can to help.

6 years agoTHANK YOU to everyone who donated in memory of Alison and her love of reading. Huge thanks also to Harry from The Oldfield Park Bookshop who will be supplying the books at cost price, which means the school should be able to buy around £1600 worth of new reading books for the classrooms to inspire a whole new generation of avid readers! Each book will have a little 'in memory' sticker AlanX
