Story
Alison and Amy Wilson are climbing Kilimanjaro to raise funds for a lovely young boy called Rupert.
Rupert is 5 years old and has a crocodile (which is Rupert's name for his cancer) and he needs our help. Please read his crocodile journey on Facebook; Rupert's Revenge. Since the age of 3, Rupert has undergone continuous intensive cancer treatment for stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. A rare childhood cancer, affecting only 100 children a year, in the UK. Sadly, Rupert's cancer remains and his specialist consultant in London explains that, Rupert's treatment is now in "uncharted waters", with no clear direction, as to what to do next, as there is no effective treatment left within the NHS. Rupert has bounced through treatment, exceeding expectations and remains, not just well but he is full of energy.
On paper he shouldn't be! The best chance Rupert has of a future, of defeating his crocodile, is to pay for his treatment. There is pioneering immunotherapy treatment, for neuroblastoma that is routinely used in America, and is proving to be very effective. Prolonging children's life's and helping children, with "refractory neuroblastoma", like Rupert, become cancer free. Subsequent vaccines to prevent future relapse, are also only available in America. So, we have no choice but to try to take Rupert to America. To receive this treatment as soon as possible, before his cancer progresses, and its too late. Everyday Rupert demonstrates his determination to succeed, to get on with his life despite the odds. Planning all the things he wants to do once he has defeated his crocodile; play football and rugby; go swimming. Or simply just being free from hospital and playing with his school friends. Rupert has not given up fighting his crocodile. So we must help him to carry on; to save his life.

7 years agoHi Folks Just to let you all know my two beautiful girls have done it!!! Alison and Amy successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro in the early morning today. They are now on their way down. Words cannot express how proud I am of them, this is no mean feat, they both sounded drained and emotional on a quick call but they were delighted to have succeeded. I am sure there will be a bottle or two of bubbles consumed when they get back to civilisation and even more when they get back home!!!! A very proud Husband and Dad. Chris Wilson

7 years agoText Part 2: Tomorrow we have an earlier start to do what they call the wall on our way to final camp ahead of base camp for the summit. Kili looks stunning! We've seen the most fantastic views and landscapes - amazing. Tired and a few light headaches but nothing else. The guides make us drink 3 to 4 litres of water a day and we go for a lot of nature wees! Looking forward to seeing you all and some home comforts. About to slide into a cold damp sleeping bag!😃❤️❤️❤️xxx
