Story
Will was diagnosed with a brain tumour at 2 years old. His walking regressed and he would occasionally shake uncontrollably. By the time he was sent for an MRI scan his tumour was so concerning that an operation to remove it was performed on the same day. For more information about brain tumor symptoms go to www.headsmart.org.uk. Will had 18 months of chemotherapy before he went into remission. After six months his consultant had concerns that some cancer cells he has floating in his brain fluid had attached and started to grow. Will was monitored regularly and in October 2017 he began another 18 months of chemotherapy. As the brain tumour charity states, brain tumours are quite complex at present over 130 different types of brain tumours are known. Brain tumours may cause effects that can have an impact on your quality of life. They can affect different parts of the brain which control different functions. This means that the effects of a brain tumour depend on the location, size and it's aggressiveness. For more information on brain tumours go to www.thebraintumourcharity.org. Will's tumours have left him with problems including problems with motor skills and fatigue. This is different to ordinary fatigue in that it is not relieved by resting or sleeping. Effects of brain tumours can take years to discover in both adults and children.
Wills friends at school have decided to start fund raising to help Will now and in the future. His class are holding a cake sale at school on Monday 29 January. My daughter Molly, who is ten years old, is swimming a mile on Sunday 25 February at Oak Park Leisure Centre. She is currently training three times a week and has set herself a massive challenge. Please support these children in raising money for Will.
