    Story

My daughter Zoe and I are hoping to attend the International Conference of Girls' Brigade in Zambia in July 2018. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet together with fellow leaders from around the world in this special year where we are celebrating 125 years since the formation of our organisation. I have been involved in Girls' Brigade since the age of 5, firstly in 2nd Ryde Company and since 2005 3rd Ryde Company on the Isle of Wight. In 2016 I celebrated 40 years as a leader and Zoe has been involved since birth, growing up through the company to become a leader at the age of 18.

Girls' Brigade offers a safe haven allowing girls to reach their full potential. They complete badge work giving them valuable life skills. Through regular attendance strong friendships develop and they can relax and have fun just being a girl. They are encouraged to join in activities that build their confidence and self-esteem. Girls are helped to believe in themselves and recognise that they are all valued and loved within their families and their communities.

Girls' Brigade is a christian organisation and has made a terrific impact on my life and now that I have retired from full time employment; I want to be able to develop my involvement and encourage more girls to want to know more about Jesus. By attending the conference and expanding my knowledge of GB around the world, I can hopefully encourage and inspire girls to want to know more and step out in faith as they join a worldwide network of friends in our ever expanding GB family.

Zoe is a leader in 3rd Reading company and also wishes to connect her girls and others through social media. What an amazing opportunity for both of us to bring girls closer through our network of worldwide friends. Through our experience and photographs we hope to make a difference to their lives.

Thank you for taking time to read our page and donating towards this. We also ask for your prayers throughout our trip. Every blessing to you all.
