Story
We are trying to build a fund to help support him during and after treatment. During treatment, he needs new clothing after treatment courses. Toys will need to be replaced after his transplant. He will require dental treatment and help in school. And we would like to fund some trips for him when he is well enough. And it may be that we need further treatment abroad if this management is not successful. His mum (my sister) had to give up work to care for him during his treatment and so does not have the income at present for this support. He is currently in isolation in the Children's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin following very aggressive chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. He continued to suffer the side effects of the chemotherapy which means he is in a lot of pain and cannot eat or drink.
We hope that this phase will settle soon and that we will be able to go home. He must remain in isolation for 100 days in total due to the stem cell transplant and his lack of immunity.
Any contribution is welcome whatever the size. It will all go to the support of Fionn and the extra care he will need.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

7 years agoThank you Miles, Vickie, Jez, Claudia and Fiona. Fionn is at home and being prepared for the next stage - radiotherapy. Stem cell transplant has been taken up but we are waiting a repeat scan to ensure there is no evidence of tumour. Thank you to all you have contributed to this crowdfunding. It is due to finish soon and this money will go straight to Fionn along with other funding raising that has taken place. We are very grateful to you all.

7 years agoThank you very much Jacinta. Everything helps and it is great that you have contributed. Fionn continues to have a terrible time. Still cannot talk or eat due to pain in his mouth. He is jaundiced at the moment due to another side effect of the chemotherapy which his medical team are hoping will settle soon.

7 years agoThank you to the O'Connors and Francis for your donation. You have helped us to reach 35% of the current target. Fionn did not have a great day today. Still needing transfusions of blood cells and platelets. On a positive note, the isolation sign has been taken down from the door of his room. So Pop (his granddad, my dad) was able to visit and [;ay with him. He did not want him to leave and cried. Poor chat cannot talk due to be pain in his mouth.

What Vickie (below) didn't mention was that our son too is called Fionn Kennedy! Fancy that. We are also doing Just Giving campaigns for research funding and stem call donor awareness. Best wishes.

Hi Brian- you don't know who I am but my mum (malaysian) knows Fionn's grandma and grandad. She bumped into Fionn's grandma yesterday and was told what's happening. Prayers and thoughts with you all..

I am Fionn's uncle. I am a hospital doctor and I have had a rare cancer myself which is thankfully in remission for 4 years. Seeing the pain and suffering my little godson is going through yet doing so with such bravery shows us all how to face up to our own problems.
