Two Mates, Two Wheelchairs, One Ridiculous Journey. Let's Get Real About Cancer.
To honour our beautiful and awesome warrior friend Lu Lu, who lost her courageous fight with cancer last year, and to raise some serious cash for The Christie's Cancer Charity, me and my other lunatic buddy Pete are attempting something utterly insane.
Dressed as convicts, we're wheelchair-ing our sorry scouse butts from the furthest corner of the UK, Land’s End, all the way up to the remote heathlands of the Orkeny Islands, then back to our home in Skelmersdale.
That's over 1600 miles of sheep-dodging, tarmac-torturing, and questionable weather. On wheels.
Why wheelchairs? That’s a good question. Let me give you some background on the two of us.
Being born with Spina Bifida and losing a leg as a 13 year old, I’ve spent my life in a wheelchair. (I know, that's one hell of a raw deal, right?) It's the kind of thing that would make some people curl up and whine about the unfairness of it all. But you know what? whining is simply not in my vocabulary.
So maybe my childhood gave me this ridiculous, unshakeable stubbornness.
Like, the kind of stubbornness that takes a look at any challenge and says, "Yeah, I'm going to overcome that, even if I've got to do it on my stubborn, well padded arse."
Whatever it is, I've got a fire in my gut to achieve this challenge to honour my friend Lu Lu and to raise as much money as possible to help The Christie Hospital to beat cancer
This is our way of proving that even with limitations, you can still achieve ridiculous things to raise money to help others who are experiencing the horror show that cancer brings.
My buddy Pete is that kind of mate who sticks by you, no matter what. So when I mentioned my idea to him over a pint one evening, he simply said, ‘count me in.” So this event is all about meeting life's challenges head-on, even if your head is currently at knee-level.
Please help us with One Big Push by donating whatever you can. Every penny you donate helps The Christie continue their incredible work. Think of it as an investment in laughter, perseverance, research, and Lu Lu's memory.
It’s going to be a wheely-exhausting, rollercoaster of an adventure, relying on the kindness of strangers to help us (while at the same time dodging the ever-present threat of rogue pigeons!)
This is more than just a wheely-wacky road trip, It's a tribute to friendship, a test of human kindness, and giving two fingers to cancer.
Join us, follow us, laugh with us, donate with us. Let's make Lu Lu proud and raise a ridiculous amount of money for a damn good cause.
Please donate what you can, share this like a wildfire, and follow our journey on social media. We'll be posting epic fails, and breathtaking scenery (hopefully)

P.S. If you see two idiots in wheelchairs looking mildly delirious somewhere near John O'Groats, buy us a pint. We'll probably need it
For the love of Lu Lu
Almost every member of our society has known at least one person who has suffered or been affected as a result of Cancer. I had a beautiful caring friend, Louise, (Lu Lu) who had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2021, and we were devastated to hear that she lost her long battle with this awful disease in 2023 at the age of just 58 years. My heart goes out to her family and in particular, her husband and my friend Peter Thompson. The aim of my challenge is to raise at least £3,000 to support the amazing team of doctors and nurses at the Christie Hospital in Manchester, to help them continue providing life-saving treatment to even more people with this awful disease.
You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice.
It seems everyone you speak to knows someone who is suffering from cancer, and if there is anything we can do to try and come up with a cure for this disease then It has to be done. We will be putting our bodies on the line, pushing it further than it has ever gone before, all for my friend Lu Lu, and live in hope that one day this indiscriminate disease can be eradicated from our lives forever. Please follow your gut instinct, never ignore pain, and get yourself checked over. Louise had back pain for several months and ended up being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. I fully understand and respect that we are all in a difficult climate, but 1 in 2 of us will be affected by cancer, so please donate today to help find that cure. xxx
