Story
Dr Sylvia Sham passed away on 10th December 2016 after living well with terminal cancer. Sylvia made a substantial contribution to improving lives through her commitment to multi-cultural project work as CEO of Wai Yin Society, in partnership with diverse voluntary and community organisations. Her contribution was recognised through many awards and the Spirit of Manchester Outstanding Contribution Award is now named after her.
Never, never, never give up!
Before Sylvia passed away she devised a plan for her work to continue. Bringing together her passion for services that empower multi-cultural communities to achieve better lives and her entrepreneurial flair for property investment, she founded the Dr Sylvia Sham Legacy CIC Ltd. This aims to grow a property portfolio from which sustainable income from rents can fund multicultural education and support projects in Greater Manchester.

Cat Settle, friend of Sylvia and a Director of the CIC, and her husband Stephen Kelsey will respectively be running a 10k in May 2018 and a marathon in April 2018 to raise awareness of Sylvia's Legacy and to raise funds for the CIC. Both are following Sylvia's wisdom in this mission...

I had the great privilege of working with Sylvia at Wai Yin Society 2004-2007 from which an enduring friendship was formed. Sylvia was extraordinary - a huge positive force, always encouraging and seeing the best in people and truly changing lives. May her Legacy continue!!!
