Story
In Uganda there is little to no access to sport for girls. The dominant cultural perception is that there is no reason to let girls play sport because they will never benefit from it. Talent is denied and wasted over and over due to this belief and young women are encouraged to accept that they are less than what they truly are. I am driven by the idea that sport changes lives and want to make that happen here.
Over the past three months we have run sessions in 20 schools within the Gulu district and 50 girls aged between 8-12 were selected to attend a selection games day on December 2nd. A lot of these girls had never been allowed to participate in an organised football session before and many face cultural barriers that discourage them from sport in their personal time. The day was a huge success and 6 girls were chosen to begin the program starting 2018.
On February 5th 2018 the 6 girls will enter a full-time football training and education program that will take them on a journey to an academic scholarship in USA that will change their lives forever and start to forge the path for more girls to use their sporting talent to achieve greatness.

6 years agoIts been an exciting couple of weeks for the girls. After a long frustrating search to find the right educational environment, that was looking to be an unsuccessful one, the decision was made to bring the girls in with the Football For Good boys. They will now benefit from the best football and educational support that East Africa has to offer. All this has been possible with the help of some very generous people. Thank you so much! Anyone who would like to continue to support the girls please check out the justgiving.com page.

6 years agoToday was an exciting day. We visited three of our girls to deliver the formal offer for them to join the program and sign the registration forms with their parents. First up was Laker Lydia and later in the day Ayugi and Aloyo Jovannah. Three more girls to meet tomorrow. We are now just one week from the start and any help to get us there will be gratefully received. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Changethegame
