Story
My name is Charlene, I am fund raising for my sister in law Gemma Lester and brother in law Terry, she already has one child with disabilities named Amelia, and this week she had the awful news that her other child Jessica also has a lifelong illness which is very rare in children and is normally only found in grown men, the illness is called Myasthenia Gravis.
Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease that causes the muscles, especially in the eyes, mouth, throat and limbs, to weaken after periods of activity. The weakness usually improves after a period of rest. When this condition occurs in children, it’s called juvenile myasthenia gravis (JMG).
Jessica is currently hospitalised at Scunthorpe General Hospital and will be in there for the foreseeable future, as Gemma and Terry already have a child with disabilities it is looking likely that Terry may have to come out of work to care for Amelia whilst Gemma stays in hospital with Jessica. This has turned there world upside down and all i am asking is for anything no matter how little just to help them through during this hard time.
Jessica's illness is not letting up and her condition keeps worsening, we are not sure on what the future has to to hold for Jessica and to top it all off Jessica is allergic to the medication she needs to control her condition. She is already in a wheelchair most days and has daily periods of paralysis...please help to ease the strain no matter how little.
Thanks to all the people who have already helped whether that be by message, sharing or donating..
Jessica is awaiting surgery at Oxford children's hospital, the procedure she is waiting for is very rare in the UK. Please help upport us.
Thanks for reading our story. #getwellsoonJessica
