Iʼve raised £185 to run a school based workshop aimed at improving the relationships between people on the Autistic spectrum & those who aren't.

    Story

I’m running the inaugural London Big Half in March and then the Brighton Marathon in April to raise money, so The Curly Hair Project can run their workshops in schools allowing teachers, parents and carers to have more understanding and spot things in children that don’t have a diagnosis, therefore supporting them and those that are diagnosed.

£200 would give a workshop for 1 school, more schools would be amazing.

Spread the word and thank you xxx

The Curly Hair Project is a social enterprise (https://thegirlwiththecurlyhair.co.uk/) founded by award winning author and entrepreneur Alis Rowe. Alis has Autism and founded the project when she was diagnosed in her early 20’s after completing her degree – she began by writing her first book ‘Asperger’s and me’ and started a Facebook group to support and encourage other young women on the Spectrum. She wanted to be open about her own experience so that no-one else needed to feel as she had – isolated, misunderstood and struggling to cope.

Fast forward to today, and Alis has written around 20 books, has 65,000+ FB followers and has developed numerous workshops, based on personal, real life examples and experience. The workshops have been developed to apply to both males and females of all ages and are endorsed by experts such as Prof. Tony Attwood.

The work we do is aimed at improving the relationships between people on the Autistic Spectrum and their loved ones, professional’s they work with and the wider neuro-typical world. We are passionate about helping everyone adapt their communication skills to understand each other better and help people with ASD understand themselves and their needs and ultimately learn skills to self manage.
