Meet Jacob, he is my friends gorgeous Grandson, he is such a good, happy little boy, always smiling, he is 6 months old. Jacob has severe Plagiocephaly, commonly known as Flat Head Syndrome. He was referred by his GP to a Consultant at Manchester Childrens Hospital on the 1st Feb 2018 only to be told there is no treatment for this condition available on the NHS. Jacobs head is so severe it will never go back to a normal shape without treatment. Also without treatment it could affect his sight, ears and brain development as he grows up, let alone bullying at school because his head is so out of shape. Jacob needs a TiMband Helmet, these are usually worn for 23 hours a day for 4 to 6 months, which is the anticipated time for treatment to hopefully round the head back to a normal shape and to allow brain development. The cost of the TiMband Helmet and treatment is £2,025.00. Jacob had an appointment on the 08.02.2018 with Mr Steve Mottram, Consultant Orthotist at Technology in Motion, Steve Mottram is a specialist in treating Flat Head Syndrome, Jacobs mummy was told its the most severe case they have seen and it is likely Jacob will need a second helmet meaning treatment could take up to a year. Jacobs head measurements were almost off the graph chart... Jacobs mummy cried .... Before and after photos of children with this condition who have been treated with the TiMband helmet are amazing, They even met a little boy :Charlie' on their way out from the consultation who also needed a helmet and he looks amazing now. Because there is no help available within the NHS we have to start fundraising to try to raise the money to pay for Jacobs first lot of treatment ,, Jacobs mummy and daddy would be extremely grateful for any donations towards the cost of his treatment from the very kind people who read the justgiving pages....
