I have been honoured with the opportunity to represent Surrey at the 2019 World Scout Jamboree! It is a congregation of more than 40,000 scouts from across the globe, and takes place every four years. For 2019, the 12-day experience will be based in West Virginia, USA, with the hoped for discovery of new adventures, cultures, friendships and life-skills. I am incredibly excited by the opportunities, but know that I will have to further myself in both knowledge and experience, as well as dealing with the daunting challenge of needing to raise almost £3,500!

We are all lucky enough to live in a first world country, but others are less fortunate. Thus, a significant part of my cost will help fund a Scout less fortunate than myself.

Many presentations, talks and events will be held upon returning, and I hope to be proactive in inspiring others to be involved. Whether one Beaver scout finds the trinkets and photographs cool, or an entire troop is inspired to sign up to the next event, I hope I may be able to share the Jamboree experience!
