Story
As Alfie's parents, we are trying to raise funds to help give him the treatment he needs for a diagnosed condition of severe plagiocephaly and brachycephaly (known as severe baby flat head). This is a condition and treatment that the NHS will not fund!
Alfie is a happy 5 month old baby. Despite Alfie having a lot of allergies (milk intolerance and fructose) and having to overcome a tongue tie procedure he is still a bubbly, fun loving baby.
Alfie's condition effects the shape of his head, altering the shape of the back and the side of the head. Due to this his ears are misaligned and Alfie's has a bulge on his forehead/down his face, due to his skull being the wrong shape. The treatment that Alfie will receive is a helmet that will reshape his head and make him look like any other child. This treatment will be carried out by a clinic in Leeds called Technology in Motion, which provides specialist treatment for Alfie's condition. Alfie has already had a 3d head scan and measurements taken to confirm the severe diagnosis of plagiocephaly and brachycephaly . His treatment will also include lots of check up and monitoring. Due to Alfie's young age his treatment will last 12-16 weeks.
When Alfie When Alfie's treatment is complete:
Normal kids glasses and sunglasses will fit his head shape
If he needs to wear googles (swimming or for work in later life) they will fit
A normal kids bike helmet will fit and a work helmet will fit in later life
Alfie wont have any visible flat areas on his head, his ear will have moved to the correct place and he will not have any visible bulge on his forehead, also his jaw will be symmetrical so it is less likely he will have a severe cross bite, overbite or under bite
He will be less likely to have a developmental delay due to plagiocephaly and brachycephaly

Due to no funding by the NHS Trust, any donation you can make would honestly mean the world to our family.
A big thank you for all your support and donations!

6 years agoAlfie has had two check ups since getting his helmet 5 weeks ago and everyone is very impressed with his results and how well he has responded to the helmet. We have had a few ups and downs in the way and it has taken Alfie a while to get used to the helmet. After his check up yesterday, alfie is now in the mild category which originally it was thought it would take about 10-12 weeks to reach this point and Alfie has achieved it in just 5 weeks 😁 We are so happy and again a big thank you to everyone who has supported us and dontated 😘

Even though we haven’t raised all funds yet, they are giving us till the 26th June to come up with the total amount and letting Alfie start his treatment in the mean time. We will post later on today on both here and just giving, when Alfie has received his helmet. We will also keep posting updates of his progress for everyone who is supporting him on his journey.
