Double R Arts works with children and young people across South Ribble aged 7 years and above. It’s main aims are to develop the performing arts skills, confidence and interpersonal skills of all those involved, empowering young people to become positive and believe in their own abilities whatever they may be.

We are not a stage school and we do not intend to make ‘stars’ of children or young people, however we give them opportunities to engage in different performing arts activities ranging from drama and dance to music and technical theatre. We do perform regularly and the different groups tackle a range of subjects from the serious to the comic and the strange to the absurd.

For us, the development of the whole child and young person is very important - it’s not just about how well they perform on a stage. We care about them as individuals and will provide them with support and advice if needed.

We usually meet every week, at our 'home' in Penwortham, South Ribble. However since March we have been unable to meet in person and have been running virtual sessions via Zoom. Due to the ever changing regulations and guidance regarding young people and performance we are still very unsure when we will be able to meet again in person. However as we have not been together for the last four months we have not been able to fundraise, charge subscriptions or receive donations as we normally would, which would allow us to continue our work with children and young people.

Whenever it is safe and practical to do so we want to be able to return in person to work with our members. However to be able to do this we need to be able to keep ourselves afloat financially as we still have ongoing costs, during this time.

In 2021 we will celebrate 10 years of Double R Arts and we REALLY want to get to this milestone and celebrate in style!!
