Story
The Doug Scott Memorial Fund was set-up in honour of Nottingham Legend Doug Scott who was the first ever Englishman to conquer Mount Everest in 1975.
Doug made great contributions to society; first as a school teacher and later through the foundation of "Community Action Nepal". In addition to this Doug was pivotal in the foundation of Nottingham Moderns RFC in 1956 and helped kick-start a more inclusive rugby club; making rugby accessible to all players in Nottingham who previously had limited options.
Through the Doug Scott Memorial fund we aim to continue Doug's good work and raise money for the local Nottingham youth community. The fund will be used to encourage sport participation and provide wider support through the 4 Doug Scott Memorial Fund Pillars: Financial Support, Employment Opportunities, Qualifications, Sport Development. 10% of all funds raised will also be donated to Community Action Nepal.
This Easter Sunday Nottingham Moderns are aiming to climb the height of Everest at the David Ross Climbing Centre. Please support us in our goal to raise £5200.
