Story
In response to the world's worst and longest civil war of Somalia, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed President of Banadir State University BSU in Mogadishu Somalia and the board of the University have come together to make appeal to the female students from poor families including families with single mothers, orphanages and victims of the Somali civil war violence by launching the BSU board appeal. Somali intellectuals strives to address gender equality and women’s empowerment in an effective and coherent manner. This Gender Brief is meant to provide an overall picture as to the situation for women in Somalia today.
A gradual re-orientation of sex-role images and stereotypes should be a part of any changing society. In that sense, the socio cultural patterns prevailing in Somalia will ultimately need to be transformed to allow a new and more productive image of women to emerge. Education is a primary factor and change agent in this process. Around it, other major goals such as food production and food security, on maternal and child health can be integrated.
The Students that enrolled of this group are 25 female students from poor families including families with single mothers, orphanages and victims of the Somali civil war violence. The student fees for four years of Nurse and Midwifery education is 75,000£. Due to high demand the University is unfortunately unable to respond to enquiries, however if you would like to donate, there is a minimum donation is 20£, but of course anything extra is highly appreciated.
I am hoping to raise money for a cause that dear to my heart. We will make a positive contribution to young women's future in Somalia. Nurse and Midwifery education for young women will benefit them and their community as they put in practice what they have learnt under four years education including practice at BSU.
