100km running through the night over the Jurassic Coast. Yes i am running 100km to raise money for 2 amazing groups / Charities. the first one is Clean Jurassic Coast,

Clean Jurassic Coast was founded by Roy Beal in early 2020, with a view to network beach cleaners. It swiftly grew, especially after the first lockdown and the subsequent influx of visitors to the Jurassic Coast.

The network of volunteers grew and between them and other litter picking groups, the beaches and coast paths along the Jurassic Coast were cleaned on a regular basis.

In January 2021, Clean Jurassic Coast CIC was formed. As a Community Interest Company and now the proud owners of boat called Sea-Rex, they are able to access hard to reach places too. CJC have also started educational beach cleans for schools and businesses. They will soon have an online shop selling sustainable and planet friendly products too.

The entire operation is currently run by volunteers and any funding goes towards the ongoing cost of running the CIC.

For example:

£250 purchases a bulk buy of recycled litter pickers for group beach cleans.

£100 goes towards insurance and website costs.

£20 covers a bulk buy of recycled bin bags or reusable bags

£10 helps fuel Sea-Rex for a day (the engine is very efficient).

£5 goes towards PPE.

These are just a few examples and every penny counts as we grow and expand our organization and make it stronger. The Jurassic Coast and surrounding area is in safe hands!

The second is the Lewis Manning Hospice.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is a charity dedicated to helping people with life limiting illnesses & their families across East Dorset. Every year they provide extraordinary care for hundreds of patients and their families through important services, which include:

• Day Hospice

• Lymphoedema Clinic

• Better Breathing Clinic

• Creative Arts & Wellbeing

• Bereavement and Family Support

These services are offered to patients in a wide catchment area that covers East Dorset. A lot of patients say they feel they are treated differently after diagnosis and are no longer allowed to live life to the fullest. Lewis-Manning Hospice Care want patients to enjoy their lives right up until their last moments, by having fun, laughing, and still being able to be themselves.

All care is provided at no cost. Support from the local community is vital to the running of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care. The number of elderly people in Dorset is constantly growing, making palliative services even more crucial to allow people to have the care they deserve at the end of their lives.
