On 22nd April I’m going to be having a bash at doing the London marathon… As much as I like my running, I’m much more of a parkrun and a pot of tea kind of runner and this is waaaaay further than I’ve ever run before. Training has absolutely gone to pot thanks to the germ magnet toddler and some shin splints. However I’m back on it and WILL drag myself around the 26.2 miles in a few weeks time.
Our church support this amazing orphanage in Ethiopia and I would LOVE to use this opportunity to help them, as well as give me some extra motivation when it all gets a bit painful. Ebenezer Grace helps over 70 children from various backgrounds. Some are counted as “cursed” and others were abandoned as babies. They have a special home for children with disabilities and another for children that are HIV positive.
Our lovely friends visited in October and saw first hand the life changing work that goes on there. They took £40,000 of donated special needs equipment and are now returning at Easter to take more sensory equipment. They’ve been busy raising money to support the home's work and to fund more beds for the children that keep arriving daily on the doorstep at Ebenezer Grace.
This is a small charity run by two families and all money goes straight to the charity to meet the needs of all of these children. With the money needed for things as basic as beds, every single penny can make such a difference to the lives of the children at Ebenezer Grace.
