Elana is my niece, she is 2 years old, when she was three and a half weeks old she started to experience seizures and unusual eye movements. After several mri scans, tests and trips back and forth to London Elana received the likely diagnosis of hypomyelinating leukodystrophy, which means she has reduced white matter on her brain. There is no cure and over time Elana will deteriorate resulting in difficulties with her mobility and functioning. The worst part of this condition is the suspected life expectancy, just eight years old. As a family we would like to be able to give Elana the quality of life she deserves. In order to do this Elana needs a specialist wheelchair. NHS wheelchair services have said they can not facilitate a wheelchair as she is too young. Please help us raise funds to purchase the wheelchair.
