Story
So I am running the Birmingham Marathon on Sunday 15th Oct 2017… madness I know. I am running it because I always promised my husband, Kieran, that when he was better and ran the half marathon again I would run it with him, after he died I wanted to keep that promise. I contacted his friend and asked her for help and she agreed, and in the same sentence said she was running the full marathon and wouldn’t he be proud of me if I did it too… what could I say.
So originally I was running it for us but so many people have said “we’ll sponsor you” that I thought if I could give something back, wouldn’t that be lovely. I decided I would like something to go Ward 623 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where Kieran received most of his treatment. He never liked being in hospital but he loved being with them, they looked after him from the beginning until he drew his last breath. They laughed with him, joked and teased him, he created trouble for them and they made sure I was ok, they were our angels. He always said it was a second home to him, so thanking them seems only right. Unfortunately as they are not a charity and they cannot accept money but they can accept gifts, so once I know how much has been raised, I will buy them whatever they want.
So if you would like to make a donation then that would be lovely, as it will go towards keeping a very special group of people smiling, if not that’s fine too.
Peace and hugs x
