Story
I run a non-profit Early Childhood Education Center that is equipping little ones between the ages of 1-6 years with an excellent foundation in life. Our center is unique in that we keep the group of children small for maximum attention and the quality of care that is needed for this tender age-group. We do not run our little school as a business and this enables us to keep the integrity of our vision of excellent child care for the most vulnerable and sensitive age group. The center also funds the further education of our teachers, who are all drawn from the local community.
Quality early childhood education is severely lacking in Namibia, and it is my vision to develop a model which can be used by any community to better the standard of education and care given to this age group, as a strong foundation for future schooling.
This center is the only one of its kind in Namibia, and I am testing this concept of community-based, small child-to-teacher ratio learning environments, which I intend to expand upon over the next 5 years.
As part of the initial stages of the this expansion, the land we are on currently has an area which is rough and dangerous, but which would be ideal if it could be cleared and developed into a play area, to make more of the property accessible to the children for exploring, running and playing.
This initiative would enable us to create a wonderful space for these lovely children...it would enlarge their world and experience at our center significantly. Your donations would be much appreciated and will make a real difference!
