My niece is 6 years old and suffers from Short Bowel syndrome. Paige as been dependant on TPN for 5years this involves being attached to a machine that her mother operates through the night, until 6 months ago when they reduced her 12hour 7nights of fluid to 0. Paige as undergone many ops and blood transfusions in the past and had life saving surgery. Experts thought Paige was coping for many months and decided to remove her central line that is situated through a main vein in her body. Short of two weeks after surgery it as come to light after many complaints to processionals by parents that Paige isnt coping at all. She as lost weight and now losing hair and her body is struggling. Her blood results show that paige is unwell and we have had the heartbraking news that she is to go back on 24hours TPN to start off with. This involves a long stay in hospital for paige and parents and she will have to again go back down to theatre. Myself and my family are devastated by the news and how poorly Paige is and i just wanted to raise her abit of money so that when shes finally home she could maybe have a weekend away of her choice and some new toys.
