William has an incredibly rare condition, which has meant numerous operations since birth. However, he has lead a normal life at a mainstream school until this February, when he suddenly lost the use of his legs within a couple of weeks. He has been in a wheelchair ever since, and in hospital, as he cannot return home until that has been modified. Sadly, after the operation on August 18, he has suffered numerous setbacks, due to infections. His breathing is now severely compromised, and he is almost constantly on equipment to assist with breathing. We hope he can grow stronger, so that he can go back to Stoke Mandeville for rehabilitation. He will need a super-duper chair to help him regain some independence, plus any money left over will be desperately needed to subsidise the amount the Council offer to convert the garage into a room/ wetroom for Will.
He turned 18 in hospital and has been too poorly to celebrate. Plus, he has missed his A levels after a promising 18 months of work towards them. Despite all this, he has been a real trouper! All who know him, love him.
