Story
Facework is an exciting programme which trains young people in the skills they need for the fast changing work place. We believe that in a post-Covid world, young people need better training in soft-skills, character strengths, growth mindset and enterprise skills.
To do this we are embarking on a programme to establish Facework Chapters, where local young people can meet and use the Facework resources to develop a programme of training for other young people in their area. We have a local trainer to offer support but will also link them to a growing 'family' of Faceworkers here in the UK and elsewhere.
Our first Chapter is in Kalimpong in Northern India where we have already undertaken research and gathered a group of young people who are committed to developing this model. We are going to pilot the Chapter in a short 'sprint' for 4 months. This will give us an opportunity to test the model and empower the young people to use the Facework resources and add to them as well as design their own programme. This will involved working closely with local colleges, employers and other non-profit organisations.
Our belief is that if we can pilot this and secure clear evidence that the model both empowers the young people, and leads to locally created enterprise opportunities, we can replicate the Chapter model and roll-out to other communities and schools so young people can establish their own Facework Chapters.
This is about letting young people lead. Equipping them to be agents of change and inspire them to play their part in lifting communities out of poverty through the creation of new enterprises and employment.

3 years agoDear all Thank you so much for your committment to this project. You will be aware that with the growing Covid Health emergency in India we have had to pause the roll-out of this pilot. The 4 young people you sponsored have undertaken 6 weeks of training and before we had to pause had started their Chapter group with local young people and teachers attending. It is not safe to meet so we are having to shift online and use this 'window' to train the youth in using online learning and training tools. see https://www.facework.online/kalimpong

4 years agoDear all - we are so grateful to everyone of you who gave to our fundraiser. We did it and have now employed 4 young people to pilot the Facework Chapter in north India. Already the group have met and we have started to train them in developing the chapter and helping other local young people. We believe that this model has real value and we are already reviewing how we can replicate this work in other countries - including here in the UK. Will keep you updated, but for now thank you for your trust and generosity. Steve, Jim and Tim
