The village lost 62 men in the First World War, including two or three members from some families. It was a devastating blow for a small rural community to lose valuable tradesmen and people of all classes.

our children today are able to enjoy a free and safe lifestyle because of the sacrifice made by those soldiers which is why we wish to recognise this by putting a commemorative Silent Soldier on the War Memorial Green facing the memorial.
