    Story

The purpose of this page is to raise funds for Cardiomyopathy UK, and to provide some financial relief for the bereaved family of Sarah Jane Parsons.

Sarah sadly passed away on Friday 13th October 2017. She was unfortunate enough to fall into the one percent of patients who do not survive what is a routine operation to relieve her chronic heart condition. Sarah had been a long term sufferer of a condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Although the condition was debilitating, Sarah fought hard to not let it define her life. She worked to provide for her family, and undertook voluntary positions in the Scouting movement and with her housing association. Sarah also knew how to have fun. She was rarely seen without a beaming smile, and a glint in her eye that betrayed a wicked sense of humour.

A mother of four, and grandmother to two, Sarah recovered from a failed marriage, to find lasting love and contentment, in her relationship with partner and fiance, Stuart Humpage. Together with Sarah’s youngest daughter, eleven year old Jess, Stuart and his son Rhys, make up the bereaved household. Sarah’s other children Jemma, Jordan, Jodie, and Stuart’s daughter Alaya, having left the nest to make their own way in the world. One can only guess a the heartache that is being shared by the family, at the loss of Sarah at the still tender age of 39.

There is little that can be done to aleviate the pain of such a loss, but Sarah’s closest friends have stepped up to offer practical help to enable Stuart to sustain as normal a family life as can be expected. Stuart faces a very difficult road ahead, which is compounded by the lack of legal recognition for his and Sarah’s relationship. Such difficulties are many varied and immediate, yet we are certain Stuart will persevere, with a little help.

Such is the measure of the man, that upon the suggestion that we wished to help his family, and despite his present predicament, Stuart insisted that a substantial proportion of anything raised should go to a charity which supported fellow sufferers of Sarah’s condition.

Cardiomyopathy UK is a charity which invests in research, and offers support and information for families afflicted by the condition.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and we hope that you feel able to support this fundraising effort, in memory of a lovely lady.
