Weʼve raised £1,620 to help Loui Legend by shaving the heads of the "Heads" (and Reece McQuade)
- Brighton, UK
- Funded on Wednesday, 28th November 2018
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Gavin Deeble and Rob Bayes are trying to raise money for Loui Legend. Loui has Treacher-Collins syndrome and needs twenty-four hour care and has had, and will need, numerous operations throughout his life. Our colleague at work (Kate Collins) is his aunt.
Loui has now had the medical estimates for his next major surgery, a sub-cranial rotation jaw distraction, which will have to take place in the Seattle Children’s Hospital, America. The cost is a whopping £214K. Through friends, family and enormous hard work by his parents Karly and Luke, they have raised over £86K so far, but still have the rest to find.
The surgery will allow Loui to do what most children and parents take for granted…….sleep a whole night on his own, breathe unaided (he has a trachy in place), speak, eat food, drink liquids, swim and importantly, not need 24 hour care. It would be life changing for Loui and his family need all the help they can get to raise the remaining £128K.
So, to help Loui with his surgery we are completing a sponsored beard and head shave at work (OneFamily in Brighton) on Wednesday 5th September at 12.30pm.
Whether it’s £1, £10 or more – whatever you can give directly helps Loui edge closer to his operation. OneFamily are very generously matching our fundraising up to £500!

Hi all Thanks so much for those that have donated, we are well on course to raise over £2k once the contribution from OneFamily has been added, which is just amazing! Also special thanks to Reece McQuade who has agreed to join Gavin and I in this shaving madness. Here's a picture of Reece holding an artist's impression of what he'll look like tomorrow afternoon.....
