Weʼve raised £1,257 to Help George Potter attend the World Scout Jamboree, in 2023.

Funded on Thursday, 8th December 2022

    Story

Every 4 years there is a World Scout Jamboree. In my scouting life I'll only get this one opportunity to attend a World Jamboree. The next one is the 25th and will be on the Island of Saemanguem in South Korea. It will be attended by approximately 40,000 young people, from all over the world on to one site.

After a hard selection event, I have been lucky enough to be selected as one of the 36 scouts to represent Suffolk and UK Scouting at the World Scout Jamboree.

This is a once in a lifetime experience and the only thing that stands in my way is raising £3995 pounds to cover the associate costs to attend. This is one of the higher fees in the world as we (the UK contingent) provide solidarity funding to less developed countries to make it as cheap as possible for them to attend.

I have great support from the 14th Lowestoft scout group, friends, family and clubs to assist. But every penny counts.

I have lots planned to hopefully raise the sum required between now and Summer 2023, but if you could help by making a donation on this page that would be greatly appreciated.

Should for any reason George Potter be unable to attend this event – the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea in 2023 – then the funds raised in their name will be held in trust by the trustees of the Suffolk County Scout Council to be used at their discretion to support young members of Suffolk Scouts to attend international event

    Thanks George Potter (aged 13)

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, I have managed to raise enough funds to make the first staged payment. Which is great! Tomorrow morning I will be at the Beccles library. Helping to tidy up the garden and library. We will also be selling biscuits and cakes to try and raise some funds.

Thanks to everyone so far for your donations. I had my first Zoom meeting with the Suffolk contingency last night and we all shared fundraising ideas, amongst other things. We have camps arranged to bring us together as a team / unit. Hopefully this will allow me to start doing some fund raising activities that will allow me to generate some funds. I have a sponsored bike ride in the early stages of planning, a possible tennis competition and a few other ideas. So watch this space. Thanks once again George
