Story
Hello Everyone,
I have been so encouraged to see the response of London following the horrific tower block fire. Unfortunately many, many children have been affected- not only those who lived in Grenfell Tower but also the family members, friends, classmates and neighbours of the residents.
We are helping to co-ordinate a long term arts programme for children of the area to help them to process these events and increase their well being. Research has shown that participation in the arts increases children's resilience and communication skills, we have seen this across all of our programmes and believe that the children of North Kensington would benefit from this engagement. We are creating a free safe place for the children of the area to play, create and express themselves as a long term response for at least the next full academic year.
This project will be supported by Fresh Arts Education with myself (Davinia Khan) and 12 fully trained members of staff who are professional performing and visual artists currently working in London's schools, volunteering their time. Fresh Arts is providing administrative and project management support. All necessary safeguarding is in place, including DBS checks and insurance. We are also supported by Colville Primary School who has donated their space to house the project for the full academic year.
As well as funding help we are looking for response from other arts professionals and qualified teachers with experience in arts programme delivery. Any funding will be spent directly on resourcing this programme and ensuring that vulnerable young people are reached. Please contact me on davinia@fresh-arts.co.uk if you think you can help.
Thank you for your time.
All the best,
Davinia Khan MA

6 years agoOver the Christmas we were able to secure funding so we can consistently run this course for the academic year and will be able to run the course every Friday, Prepare and apply for LAMDA examinations for the children, more theatre shows and much much more! This would have never been possible without your initial support! Thank you from all of the children and everyone at Fresh Arts for your generosity and kindness!

6 years agoAfter an amazing term of Drama, Dance, Singing and Art for 40 children directly affected. The children truly benefited & loved the sessions each Friday and attended each week. We we able to take the children and parents to the old vic for the amazing Lorax show, The old Vic came to do a puppet workshop with all the children which was fantastic! We took the children and parents to the Battersea Arts Centre for a lovely Christmas show! Then to end what was a lovely term we had Santa come in & give each child a gift for Christmas!
