Iʼve raised £350 to help buy a specialised bike for Harry who has Kleefstra Syndrome, severe global developmental delay, hearing, visual and speech impairments.

    Story

    Example of bike required

Harry is 7yrs of age and has Kleefstra Syndrome. Blind at birth, Harry has had to overcome many obstacles. Thankfully he now has some vision and makes good use of it.

Harry will need 24hr care his entire life and finding an activity which motivates him can have a huge positive impact on his life and continued development. Exercise can be difficult and keeping a healthy weight can be challenging, having some form or exercise can assist with this.

Sleeping is also difficult and regular exercise can help tire him out, so we can all enjoy a good night's sleep. Having an activity which helps reduce frustration and also limit self harming and harming others will be a massive step forward Harry.

Kleefstra Syndrome can come with a regression of skills in adolescents and therefore I am doing everything in my power to keep him happy and healthy now.

Having a family activity means we an create family memories and engage in the world around us, instead of being isolated and alone.

Today we picked up from Charlotte's Tandems a loan trike for Harry. Although this isn't the bike that we are raising funds for, its a fantastic stop gap which will help us in the interim to enjoy a family activity and help Harry with his ongoing growth and development. We will continue to raise funds for the bike we need for Harry's future, but this will certainly help in the meantime. We only have it for 2mths, but it will be well used. Thank you all for your continued ongoing support relating to this.
