We hope to raise enough funds from our Pop Up restaurant and through our Just Giving page for Hao.

When Hao was 2.5 years old, his mother Ms. Me took him for hearing testing and it was revealed that his hearing was at a deficiency of 80 decibels. Hao’s communication skills were clearly lacking before the testing was done, but as it is common for children from poor families born with a host of manageable learning and physical impediments, many times diagnosis and treatment are delayed due to financial restraints. Once Ms. Me found out that her son’s hearing capacity nonexistent without the assistance of dual hearing aids, she struggled to purchase the most basic model available and began to send Hao to speaking classes for hearing impaired children offered by a hospital.

Currently he wears hearing aids which although they help in some way, they're not a long term solution.

We hope to raise enough money to purchase state of the art hearing aids from Hearing Aid UK; model Phonak B90. We've been in touch with them and they have kindly offered to reduce the cost by half. We are also aiming to fund the aftercare service at a local audiologist in Vietnam.

It is the hope of his mum, Ms. Me, that with the new hearing devices, Hao will be able to hear much more clearly, thus be able to create more sounds with his own voice (as it is very difficult to create sounds that one cannot hear!) As Hao is able to hear more, he will be able to speak more and will be able to think and express more complex concepts more quickly. It is the hope that one day, with the right hearing technology, he will be able to study with his peers in a regular school and eventually study university and, well, where to go from there…. The sky is the limit. This path will become much more feasible with the help of existing technologies unavailable due financial constraints.
