Story
As it's my birthday next week, I thought what better way to spend it than throwing a party for the children at the nursery where I'm volunteering. Most of these children rarely have a birthday party, so I'd like to give them all a special day, with party food, English party games with prizes, a big cake and party bags/gifts to take home.
I'm asking my friends who would normally not think twice of buying me a birthday drink or paying for a birthday dinner to donate that money instead to these children.
The children that attend this nursery are from extremely poor families who leave them so they can go out to work and earn barely enough money to put food on the table.
There is very little government funding and the 3 women (angels) who volunteer here every day often don't have enough money to feed the children lunch, which can often be their only hot meal each day.
I have set a target that is clearly more than the cost of a kids party. This is mainly due to the fact there is a plumbing problem in the building that means the children are unable to wash their hands after using the bathroom and I would like to get this fixed, with your help.
There are several other major issues I would love to help with, so if anyone is feeling extra generous I can assure you 100% of the money raised will be put to good use!

7 years agoAlso, I have been to Mandeline's home, met with her mother and worked out their priorities. Tonight I will be leaving her the equivalent of £300 (£100 of my own money) which should be enough to make their home secure and fix a few other things. I am hoping to receive updates from my friend who is volunteering at the nursery for 1 year, as he can visit Mandeline's home just across the path any time. Once again, thank you to everyone for helping improve the lives of others less fortunate than us.

7 years agoFirst of all, a huge thank you for your all your donations. It's been a bit stressful this week trying to spend the money wisely, but you will be pleased to know the plumbing is fixed! Also, I've bought a TV which I will take to the nursery tonight with an electrician and get it mounted on the wall. Most of these children do not have a TV and this one will not have an aerial, it is purely for educational purposes. I am currently working on downloading 'ABC' /number songs and videos onto a USB stick.

7 years agoThank you so much to all those who have donated, it really means so much. Some of you may have read my Facebook post today but I just wanted to put a link to it on here for those who haven't seen it. Not great news I'm afraid, therefore anything over my current target will be going directly to Mandeline's family... https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=363018114124030&id=100012475321660
