Zakky Brennan was a perfectly healthy 2 year old boy who loved playing football and doing what 2 year olds do!! He started nursery at the start of September 2015 but became very tired which was initially put down to the excitement of starting nursery. After a trip to the family doctor he was referred to hospital where the dreaded news came that Zakky had Neuroblastoma stage 4 (high risk) - the news came just a few days before his 3rd birthday.
Neuroblastoma is a very rare and aggressive from of childhood cancer. Less than 100 children in the UK are diagnosed with this each year. Unfortunately a high percentage of children will relapse within 2 years of remission which limits treatment plans here in the UK.
Zakky is just finishing 1ST CLASS treatment in Belfast's Royal Victoria Children's Hospital.
His next step is to travel to Michigan in January 2017 for a clinical trial that could help beat his cancer.
