My name is Mark Lewis and I am a Cub scout leader for 1st Peasedown Cubs in the Somerset village of Peasedown St John.

Disaster struck this winter as rodents invaded our storage and nibbled away large parts of our 15 year old patrol tents, rendering them unusable.

Scouting provides a brilliant opportunity for young people to experience a "proper" childhood filled with adventure and learning.

The children are encouraged to try new experiences both within their pack but also taking part in a wide range of community activities.

Cub camps are a large part of the Scouting experience and the damage to this vital equipment has jeopardised the packs ability to attend such events.

Unfortunately the tents cannot be economically repaired and at 15 years old a replacement is now required.

New tents cost around £750 per tent and ideally we need to replace all three.

I understand during the current economic climate not everyone can afford to make a donation, but any amount large or small can really make a difference.
