    Story

10 weeks after Jack was born, his mummy, Steph was diagnosed with cancer. We were able to look after Jack to help with her fight against cancer, but she unfortunately she died 8 June 2006 when Jack was only 3. Her final wish was for us to look after him. We gained a residency order and full parental responsibility in July 2006 and Jack lived with us.

2 years ago his dad, who still had contact with Jack died from a heart attack. This was a difficult time for Jack. He was now an orphan. He asked us if we would adopt him so that he felt as though he belonged to our family. We applied for adoption but nothing happened. This year we got an apologetic phone asking if we were still interested in adopting Jack and that they had found our forms behind a cupboard after a member of staff had left. We pursued the application in earnest until...

Adoption requires a medical for each prospective carer. Our doctors, Hawthorn Medical Practice, Skegness class it as a private medical and as such charge £240 per person. I have recently changed employment and £480 is currently beyond our reach.

We feel terrible asking for help to grant Jack his wish. Jack has raised over £7000 for St. Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire over the last 5 years and we can’t find £480 to pay the doctors fees. We feel so selfish, but want Jack to be happy after all the loss he has suffered in his short life. He is a generous, caring young man who would make his mum and dad so proud if they could see how much he does for other people.

Please find it in your heart to help us help Jack.
