Story
This coming July I will be travelling to Ghana with Original Volunteers where I will be volunteering in a local hospital helping generally and in the maternity ward and within the local communities for 3 weeks. The trip itself is self funded however I am raising money for supplies such as hospital basics. For example, in 2015, there was only one pair of scissors in the midwifery department to cut an umbilical cord – and they were rusty. School/living supplies for the children in community who are living in inadequate houses without a bed, clean water, schooling, essential food and without clothes they can call their own. A £2.50 donation could provide a child with pens, pencils and bookwork. Some children are effectively unpaid housekeepers for their new families and will be missing out on the essential development stages. A £5.00 donation could help a family access essentials which would keep them safe and clean. Dirty water is a major problem in Ghana at the moment, carrying diseases such as cholera, many villages only have access to this dirty water. To help overcome this problem, trips will be made to rural villages to hand out water filter buckets, which allow families the access to safe drinking water, a £10 donation would provide a water filter bucket for families. Donations of any size would help make such a big difference to the lives of so many in Ghana. Thank you very much. Jayne
