I am hoping to raise £500 fund more educational projects in Gambia. As many of you already know Marion Weeks and I have been raising money to send young Gambian children to Nursery School and provide necessary school uniforms to school age children. We have already through our fundraising, sent ,5 beautiful children to school in the past year. Nursery education gives a firm foundation for a good education and gives these young children, who face extreme hardships in their everyday lives, time to relax, learne fun and play in a safe, nurturing, educational environment. This funding is truly changing lives. It is my believe that education is the pathway out of poverty, benefitting not only the individual but, the whole community in which they live. Gambia has some of the poorest children in the world, many are Orphans, many are carers for younger siblings. Everyday life is a struggle, with disease, and starvation only a whisper a way. I can only hope to make a small difference but, it is a difference! £15 will provide a years education in Nursery School. £2.50 will provide a necessary school uniform. It is a small amount to you and me but, an impossible fortune for these families to find.. The more we raise the more children we can help. We can make a difference. My main focus after Marion's last trip to Gambia this month is to purchase school uniforms for as many needy children as possible to allow them access to free state education at the age of 7. Without a basic uniform a child in Gambia cannot attend, resulting in many children being excluded from school. £2.50 to many families in Gambia is an impossible amount..
