The children and young people in Ghana lack access to education and everyday items that we take for granted. For three weeks in January I am working with a volunteer program in Ghana, and I really want to make as much of an impact as I can whilst I am over there.

All money raised will go direct to the children and people the program helps, as we choose what the money is used for. Below is an overview of how these volunteer programs help and how further donations from friends, family and colleagues can make such a big difference to the everyday lives of the people over there:

*There are always building and repair projects on the go. The volunteers fund the materials, tools and labour needed for these projects, as well as getting involved in the actual work themselves.

*The areas where these schools are built are generally some of the poorest. There are very few teachers (if any), so the volunteers on these programs can play a vital role in the children's development. Educational materials and toys for the schools play a huge part in this.

* Many of the young girls do not have access to basic sanitary care. Part of this money will be used to buy packs of reusable sanitary items that I can take out for the young girls over there.
