Story
Jessica was a well loved and thought of young lady. She adored her family and sadly was taken from us last August age 23. We continue to miss her every single day. Her friends and family have decided that we would like to raise funds for Jessica Jane which will be shared with the key charities and hospitals that over her short life have supported both Jessica and the family.
These are:
Alder hey Renal Unit
MacDonald House Alder Hey Children's Hospital
Wrexham renal Unit
Ty Gobaith hospice
Jessica passed away at home with her family after a long battle with renal failure (amongst other conditions). She has been receiving dialysis up to 6 days per week and was diagnosed with renal failure at age 12. Jessica was born with a cloaca anomaly which is a rare condition and was rushed to Alder Hay shortly after she was born. The team at Alder Hey worked to save Jessicas life and she remained under their care until she moved over to adult services and during that time she had undergone over 30 surgeries. Jessica received a transplant from a kidney donated by her father and a couple years later when it failed she then had to return to dialysis 6 days a week which was hard and the staff at the renal unit in Wrexham were brilliant with her.
During all of this time the family received support through a number of key charities. MacDonald house in Liverpool meant that I (her mother) could stay with her at all times and be a family, sometimes we would stay there free of charge for many months. Ty Gobaith Hospice also provided us with support and where we as a family could go for respite. They continue to support us now since Jessicas bereavement with counselling.

5 years agoHi all. Well I’ve done it - I’ve stayed alcohol free for 100 day woo hoo. It has been a real challenge at times and not drinking has meant some raw emotions have come to surface which I have had support to deal with from Ty Gobaith counselling which is such an important service. I do hope you will donate if you’ve not already done so and please feel free to share. We will update you on here with our next fundraising challenges for 2019. X

6 years agoHi all. Just to let you know I’m on day 59 ...... it has been a rollercoaster and some days it is very hard and others are ok. Not drinking has meant that emotions I have kept surpressed and I am still recieipt of counselling from ty gobaith which is one of the charities we are hoping to raise an amazing amount that can ensure counselling continues to be available to families with terminal children. So please share and see if we can raise £1000 from my 100 days alcohol free.
