Story
Sadly, he is no longer with us as he lost his battle with Cancer back in 2019.
From an early age, my Dad instilled a positive attitude within me to follow my dreams, travel the world and challenge myself to new things and sporting achievements.
I have wanted to complete a Cycle Challenge for quite some time now and I keep hearing my Dads silly voice saying
“Are you sure!?”
“Good Luck”
“Have Fun”
“Make sure, you wear a helmet”
I now have a team of riders who are keen to join me on this quest. We will be enduring a Chester to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge to help raise money for Wirral St John's Hospice where my Dad spent his final days.
The Hospice costs in the region of £4million a year to run, and whilst they do receive some NHS grants, the majority of their income is generated from donations. So, every penny counts, please donate as much or as little as you can for this fantastic cause. They can continue to provide excellent specialist care for patients and loved ones.
In August 2022 a the team of Riders will be cycling 320km or 198 miles from Chester to Amsterdam over the course of 3 days.
Day 1 – Chester (Eastgate Clock) to Sheffield
Day 2 – Sheffield to Hull
Day 3 – Hoek Van Holland to Rijksmuseum Amsterdam
Funds donated to this page will go directly to support the team during the course of this challenge and with your help we can achieve our target and make a 'Huge' donation to Wirral St John's Hospice
So far the Team includes;
Andy McKinney (Myself)
Joel Bate
Tom Briggs
Matt Davison
Luke Briggs
Ian McArdale
Joe Mcfarlane

3 years agoOn Sunday 18th July, I’ll be competing in my first race in the Chester 10km. Raising money for the lovely Wirral Hospice St John’s where my Dad sadly passed away. Aiming for a sub 48 minutes which might change depending on training this week. Looking forward to competing and testing myself amongst other runners, should bring the intensity levels up. Will continue to do small little fundraisers until we can get back to our normal cycle challenge in August 2022 with an epic Chester to Amsterdam Thanks 🙏 for all the donations so far.

3 years agoOn Saturday 15th May I’ll be going Clock to Clock from Chester to Machynlleth for a one day cycle event to help us tick over during this weird pandemic we find ourselves in. 120km or 75 miles of riding across the Snowdonia Mountain Range.

4 years agoLuke has been a top family friend for many a year. A keen rider with a penchant for vintage road bikes and getting out into nature. He can often be found yomping around the stunning coastal paths of Pembrokeshire with his lovely partner Matilda when he’s not busy advising farmers on sustainability and protecting the environment. He’s an avid record collector, with an ear particularly geared towards the mythical underground sounds of Detroit and Chicago.
