Story
Hi all
Those of you involved with the scout group know that we have been quoted £300,000 to rebuild our scout hut and to guarantee the future of scouting in Ampthill. The Scout Hut in Station Road has had a good life for the last 50 years. It is now in urgent need of repair and upgrade to meet the demands of Ampthill’s energetic youth and its wider community.
Ampthill is growing fast, and the waiting lists for the Scout and Guide groups are telling us that there is a great appetite for more groups, more activities and more fun!
Our very exciting project is to make the scout hut bigger and better, providing a wonderful space for years of fun to come.
As well as our constant fundraising efforts, I have deceided to do something myself towards our appeal - I am going sober for scouts for October!! Those who know me knows how tough this will be, especially with a teenage boy and an emotional year 5 girl in the house! Please give what you can to support this worthwhile cause, and have a drink for me!!
Thanks all
Karen

7 years agoDay 23 - finally into single figures remaining. 3 weekends behind me, one to go. But now we are on half term... Have basically been a bit of a recluse this month, went out for the lovely Lyn Palmers birthday lunch and the smell of Stus red wine nearly made me give in. It smelt so good!! Sponsorship has been amazing, £445 plus another £20 in cash - thank you all so much. Really appreciate it. Still time to donate if you would like to x

7 years agommm 16th Day. Half way there. It's tough. Bored with not drinking now. Literally the only thing keeping me going is the sponsorship I have received. I honestly thought as I have done this before it would be much easier 2nd time round but it so isn't! Have now replaced wine with chocolate so will probably be the size of a small house by Nov 1st!! Thanks to all my lovely sponsors - I would have long given up without you. I also have received cash sponsorship so if you would rather donate that way, please go ahead!!

7 years agoOK - first week, and first weekend behind me. units of alcohol - 0 lbs lost - 4!!! Result! Have discovered alcohol free Seedlip gin which is very nice - the red Eisberg Cabernet Sauvignon leaves a lot to be desired tho! Too light and tastes a bit like vinegar!! Friday night was tough, as was Sunday lunch - an starting to dream about a nice glass of Apothic Red. 22 days to go...
