Martin the Gentle Giant

Martin aged 41 came to the helping hearts team many years back Zara , myself and the helping hearts team and the good shepherd and P3 ( Val Harvey ) had a lot of time for him. Martin fell into the cruel world of addiction at a point in his life and even became homeless . He was a family man and thought the world of his mom Julie and sisters and brothers and children . On a Saturday night when we used to feed the lads he would always be there chatting away . Martin was always so grateful of any help you offered to him and most of the time he hated asking because he was a very proud man !

Martin decided to change his life around and even got his own little flat and a dog called Ruby who he adored . He started training every day and he was looking better and more positive every week ! He never gave up in life and always had a smile and hated being to much trouble to anyone. The last time we spoke was Sunday evening , he was always asking how people were.

We used to chat about the future and the plans he had , he was so proud of how far he had come and wanted to become a personal trainer .

On Monday 6th September after 9pm Martin got brutally stabbed 7 times and unfortunately lost his life at New Cross hospital . . A 32 year old man has been charged with murder.

His family are devastated and did not expect to lose him at such a young age in such a cruel way .

We want justice served for Martins killer and a STOP to knife crime !

Me and Zara would like to ask for your help to give Martin a send off he deserves and help his beautiful family with costs towards his funeral as its a very difficult time for them 🙏
